Supermarkets – From Casa Correra & Casa Camino – Carrefour, Hiperber, Mercadona & Lidl are all within walking distance.
Casa Corremos – Mercadona is a 2 minute walk. English butchers also a short walk. Please note both will be closed on Sundays.
Sunday Shopping – Spanish shops & Supermarkets are closed for a number of Sunday’s a year. In high season they may be open until 3pm. Mercadona is closed every Sunday.
If you need shopping on a Sunday the popular Lemon Tree Market is open until 2pm, or the Petrol station opposite Carrefour has a very good selection of the basics.
Please ask if you are travelling on a Sunday (or late) & need some essentials for when you arrive.
Restaurants & cafés
Pan y compañía – A lovely cafe in San Luis near Casa Corremos, selling fabulous pastries & cakes in the day & pizza by night.
Concierto – A short walk from Casa Camino & Casa Correra & a 25 minute walk from Casa Corremos. Located on the ‘Shannon strip’. Friendly Bar & Café which is open until late, often with evening entertainment.
Shannon’s Irish Bar – good cocktails, all drinks including Spanish & international, good coffee, friendly, large terrace, regular events. There are several restaurants on the same stretch serving good food at reasonable prices including Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, English & Mexican.
Great Greek – Fabulous Greek restaurant, located in St James Gate which is about approximately 1 mile from Casa Correra & Casa Camino. Booking Recommended in high season. Fancy a drink beforehand? Head across the road to Vinchis Bar a newly opened bar (also selling cocktails & ice creams) & get a warm welcome from Donna the owner.
The best tapas & pintxo we have found in town (so far) have been at El callejón, & Tasca Nueva Bahía.
El Meulle – seafront restaurant, good service & excellent seafood.
Beet – excellent vegetarian / vegan restaurant located in town. Booking recommended. Another vegan cuisine option, also located in town is the newly opened Heal-Thy Torrevieja.
Las Columnas – seafront restaurant, good Mediterranean cooking in a smart setting with great views of the Med.
La Herradura – traditional Spanish restaurant with excellent cooking at a good price, set in a converted barn, regular Spanish entertainment for a traditional style evening. Booking recommended.
Villa Salada – a short walk from Casa Corremos. Dinner, with entertainment of Horse & Flamenco shows every Saturday.
Staying at Casa Corremos you are just across the main road from the Placa Tolosa or San Luis Square where you can find a number of bars & restaurants along ‘The Green Mile’; Luz de Luna, The Chicken Shack, The Watering Hole, Oasis (also has a pool) & Dilly’s
